Pomona Farms is a diversified farm project located in Pomona, Ontario, within growing zone 5b. We are building a regenerative farming operation focused on healthy soil, integrated systems, regenerative organic practices and sustainable food production.
Our farming philosophy centers on regenerative practices that work with natural systems rather than against them. We believe in building soil health as the foundation of everything we do, understanding that healthy soil produces healthy plants and supports healthy ecosystems.
We are developing an integrated crop-livestock system where different enterprises support and enhance each other. Perennial crops like elderberries work alongside annual hydroponic production and pastured poultry to create a diverse, resilient operation.
Our approach is infrastructure-first: we are taking the time to build proper systems and facilities before scaling production. This ensures that when we do bring products to market, we can do so consistently and sustainably.
All of our enterprises are managed using organic practices. We do not use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Our growing methods prioritize soil biology, natural pest management, and closed-loop nutrient cycling.
Certification Status: We are pursuing organic certification. Our certification status will be communicated transparently as it develops. Until certification is achieved, we describe our practices as "organic practices" rather than "certified organic."
Soil Health First
Everything we do starts with the soil. Building organic matter, supporting soil biology, and minimizing disturbance are central to our approach.
Our enterprises are designed to work together. Crop residues feed composting systems, poultry contribute to pest management and soil fertility, and perennial plantings provide habitat and ecosystem services.
Perennial crops like elderberries and nursery plantings form the backbone of our operation, providing long-term soil stability and reduced input requirements.
We are building proper systems and facilities before scaling production, ensuring sustainable, consistent operations for the long term.

Our farm was founded in 1968 by Charlie Black. While traditional cattle farming has been a mainstay for decades, it is now on the cusp of a major transformation We're proud to have been serving the local community for over 50 Years
